Mechanical Equipment Engineer

As Mechanical Equipment Engineer, you have great affinity with the maritime industry and you will focus on the technical activities relating to the mechanical systems for vessels and mission equipment in the dredging, offshore, ferry and mega yacht industries.

You will execute all engineering work during the concept, basic and detail design stage and will translate customer requirements into technical drawings and functional specifications as part of a multidisciplinary project team. This will contribute to efficient production and maximize quality, safety, sustainability and efficiency of the equipment.

Responsibilities

  • identifying and evaluating bottlenecks and making suggestions for improvement, and monitoring implementation after approval
  • providing input for detailed planning, calculating weight and technical details, and determining specifications for work to be outsourced
  • supporting internal and external stakeholders during implementation, production and after-sales regarding technical aspects or further questions
  • revising the engineering package based on nonconformities, own insight or directions by others, and where necessary discussing with the Lead Engineer and/or relevant stakeholders
  • analyzing and assessing customer requirements relating to products and processes (materials, process, quality, product specifications) and performing initial opportunity and risk analyses
  • examining drawings for consistency in line with specifications, rules and regulations, missing information, readability and user-friendliness and, where needed, adjusting or elaborating upon the documents and system information
  • documenting activities relating to processes, installations and equipment, and providing insights regarding quantitative and qualitative developments by means of periodical and ad hoc reports or analyses

Skills / Experience

  • At least three to five years of relevant experience.
  • An innovative, stress-resistant and flexible approach
  • An excellent command of English, written and spoken
  • Knowledge and experience with 3D modelling software
  • Knowledge and experience with all vessel related P &ID’s
  • BSc and/or MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering or other technical discipline
  • Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make decisions
