VAN OORD | VOX AMALIA & VOX ALEXIA
For the large Dutch dredging company Van Oord, C-Job Naval Architects has designed a 17.000 m3 Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD).
What makes this design special is its multipurpose functionality. The innovative underwater body is made especially for shallow waters. Furthermore it had 2 suction arms, bottom doors and two rainbow nozzles.
Two dredgers, one design
Van Oord will build two of these dredger designs in Spain, at LaNaval Shipyard, Bilbao.
Complex hull design
More info about the hull of this dredger can be found in the article ‘Complex hull shapes need sophisticated assesment‘
This article was published in the “MARIN Report” of August 2015 and is written by Luigi Francesco Minerva and Klaas Kooiker.
