Chemgas Sno, Storm, Sumatra – for Chemgas

Chemgas operates its own fleet of inland, seagoing, and sea/river-going vessels to transport petrochemical gases. When the company decided to update its fleet, C-Job assisted to ensure that designs for three new LPG inland tankers – called Sno, Storm and Sumatra – were feasible. We also visualized proposed changes, and prepared final specifications for the shipyard.
About the project

An innovative approach to vessel design and modernization

Chemgas had already gathered information from its captains, crew, and superintendents to complete the designs for its new S-Series of tankers. C-Job then worked onsite at Chemgas to write the specification for each design, with particular focus on ensuring efficient future operation and maintenance, plus updating the accommodation to be modern and comfortable.

The process for each vessel was innovative compared to traditional ship building methods. Instead of a shipyard describing the quality standard of each ship, our client wanted to describe in detail the way the ship build should be executed. C-Job specifications were therefore crucial in order to accurately instruct the shipyard.

As well as updating the accommodation of the vessesl, C-Job also integrated the systems, creating  load balance and single-line diagrams, and updating the layouts of the vessels’ wheelhouses.

To present the proposed changes, C-Job created state-of-the-art visualizations across the project to showcase each vessel’s modern looks and effective use of space in the living quarters. This special skill set sets C-Job apart: as well as designing vessels and offering building supervision to our clients, we can also bridge the gap between interior design and naval architecture.

C-Job’s role in creating specifications and changes to the designs of the Sno, Storm, and Sumatra were welcomed by Chemgas and led to efficient construction processes and vessels built to provide greater levels of crew comfort. The Sumatra was recently christened at an event to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Chemgas.

C-Job client testimonial

Working with C-Job to implement a different build approach, design of the living space and wheelhouse, for our S-Series vessels has been invaluable. Their visualizations were helpful in demonstrating the comfort and space on board the new vessels, and even showed the ergonomics of the navigation consoles, and visibility from the wheelhouse interiors.

New generation push boats – design for thyssenkrupp Veerhaven

thyssenkrupp Veerhaven is exploring opportunities for a new generation of climate-friendly pusher boats: an EU Stage V emission standards push boat, and/or a dual-fuel methanol-diesel push boat. C-Job provided two different concept designs for each type of vessel, which had to navigate the river Rhine, deliver low OPEX, and provide good crew comfort.

E-Pusher 1 – for Kotug

C-Job worked with Padmos, a family run shipbuilder, on behalf of their client and shipowner, Kotug. In 2021, Kotug launched its E-Pusher concept of fully electric pusher boat and barges, which are a world first. The concepts were created by Kotug, and C-Job collaborated with Padmos on the basic and detailed engineering for the first of these vessels, the E-Pusher 1.
