Vox Amalia – for Van Oord

C-Job collaborated with Van Oord, a global leader in dredging and marine construction, for the development of the Vox Amalia, a trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) with a capacity of 18,900 m³. Van Oord provided the business case and operational requirements, while C-Job performed a feasibility study, concept design, basic design review, and detail design, and provided building supervision support.
About the project

Bringing a next-generation dredger to life

The advanced Vox Amalia is designed to perform a wide range of dredging tasks efficiently, thanks to its two suction drag arms, bottom doors, bow connection and two rainbow nozzles, which allow it to discharge dredged materials either through direct deposit or via rainbowing.

C-Job worked closely with Van Oord’s internal teams and external suppliers throughout the concept design phase, which lasted approximately a year. We extensively tested design iterations and system configurations to ensure the vessel met all operational requirements and the challenges of modern dredging.

We were particularly involved in the main naval architecture of the vessel, where integration of dredging systems into the ship design was key, to ensure the Vox Amalia could perform efficiently in both deep and shallow waters, and provide versatility for a wide range of dredging projects. We meticulously balanced the vessel’s performance with cost-effectiveness, to create a dredger that would be a competitive force in the dredging industry.

C-Job also assisted Van Oord by reviewing the execution of basic and detail engineering phases, to ensure high build standards.

The tailor-made Vox Amalia is a testament to the successful partnership between C-Job and Van Oord, and the high-performing vessel now undertakes a wide variety of dredging projects around the world.

A new CSD 30″ – for the Port of Portland

To maintain its shipping channel, the maintenance dredger Oregon has been hard at work for the Port of Portland since its construction in 1965. Due to its age, the Port reached out to C-Job to create a concept design for a new CSD 30”, to replace the Oregon, which could run on marine diesel oil and also be methanol-ready.

Ursa – for Työvene

The Ursa, a trailing suction hopper dredger (THSD), was built by the Työvene shipyard for the Maritime office of Gdynia, and is the first of their fleet.
C-Job was responsible for the concept, basic and detail design, and the integration of dredging equipment.

C-Job CSD Series

The C-Job CSD Series is a flexible and adaptable concept design for mid-range cutter suction dredgers, with a dredge discharge diameter of 20-40 inches. The dredger design can be stationary, for use in the USA and other markets, or there's the option to have installed power up to 30,000 horsepower if a self-propelled dredger is required.
