C-Job | Double-Ended Ferry

C-Job has created a fully completed concept design of a battery-operated, double-ended ferry. The double-ended vessel sails primarily in one direction with loading ramps on both sides which make it easy for passengers and vehicles to board and leave the vessel.

The ferry has a capacity of up to 80 people and up to ten semi-trucks, meaning it can transport both passengers and cargo at once. The ferry currently operates on battery power and can make multiple trips per day on just one battery charge, ideally between 30 minutes and one hour. At the end of the day, the ferry will go to port and recharge the battery overnight. However, the ferry can also complete longer journeys by making use of generator sets. These generator sets have been placed in a specific way which will allow for easy upgrades towards more sustainable solutions, such as the use of flow battery storage and the incorporation of sustainable fuels like hydrogen and methanol in the future.

The ferry is sea-going and is ideal for sailing between small coastal islands. The compact, yet modern, and simple to operate design allow the ferry to sail at open sea, even in rough weather, where it may encounter waves up to four meters in height.
