Hybrid Tug

BLOG POSt

The greatest solution for tugs that operate long voyages is a hybrid propulsion system. It is possible due to a combination of the main engine and electric motor. Most of the time, the tug will only be able to use the main engine, which is less powerful than diesel powered tugs. This enables the engine to operate at its best efficiency, which decreases maintenance and fuel costs.
Noise and vibration are significantly reduced due to a less powerful main engine, which makes it possible to use this type of propulsion system in passenger ships.

  • Up to 30% in fuel savings.
  • Flexible power distribution.
  • Reduced emissions, noise and vibrations.
  • Decreasing maintenance cost.
  • Extended PTI mode operation period
