Hybrid pusher tugs offer a number of advantages over traditional diesel-powered vessels.

Fuel efficiency is one of the most notable benefits of these vessels for shipowners. Because the hybrid system allows for a combination of motor and battery power, it enables the tug to use both sources of energy more efficiently, thereby saving on fuel costs. The fuel economy of a hybrid propulsion complex in comparison with a diesel one reaches 30-35%.

The greatest solution for tugs that operate long voyages is a hybrid propulsion system. It is possible due to a combination of the main engine and electric motor, it enables the tug to use both sources of energy more efficiently, thereby saving on fuel costs. Most of the time, the tug will only be able to use the main engine, which is less powerful than diesel powered tugs. This enables the engine to operate at its best efficiency, which decreases maintenance costs.

Hybrid technology also provides a variety of other benefits due to a less powerful main engine. Noise and vibration are significantly reduced, which makes it possible to use this type of propulsion system in passenger ships.
