C-Job was founded on the concept of being centered on your needs, whether you are a shipowner, ship operator or shipyard.

Understanding your needs and challenges is not just a claim for C-Job: it’s a standard we work to. Rather than focusing on products and services, we first bring our experience and design skills as naval architects and engineers to the table. Since our customers are experts in their own right, we listen to what’s needed and spend time understanding the ‘why’ behind your challenge or requirement.

Often, a customer’s operational and design assumptions, and ways of working, will be entirely accurate. But if there is any uncertainty, C-Job – as an independent partner – can offer an unbiased opinion, validate assumptions, and come to a deeper understanding of what’s really required. This could mean accurately establishing what a vessel or operation requires through analysis; identifying whether the level of detail requested is the level of detail required; or proposing a cost-saving solution at the shipyard.

When a particular solution direction is clear, you can call upon a large team of C-Job experts to step in and help to execute; whether you need a naval architect, structural engineer, ship motion specialist or other shipbuilding-related expert.

Here’s how our approach of centering on your needs works in practice, to meet two particular needs:

Shipowners and operators: The need for performance throughout the lifecycle

Calculating and predicting vessel performance over the short-, medium- and long-term is crucial. So when you make fleet decisions as a shipowner or operator, it can be hugely beneficial to have experienced naval architects at your side.

We can help you in the process of reducing CAPEX and optimizing OPEX by fine tuning your vessel to achieve the cost-efficiency and future performance required by the business case. Whatever is proposed, it will never be a hunch. We support your decision making in a data-driven way, freeing you to make the final choices.

Typically, we’ll perform an operational profile analysis, to simulate operational and economic scenarios, and provide more complete information to guide your decision making.

We might analyze, for example, the ship’s optimum operational speeds or mission equipment specifications; investigate whether the same performance can be achieved with lower fuel consumption; or validate that the assumed vessel size is actually necessary to best fit with your operational needs. It’s the most effective way we’ve found to reduce uncertainly, at low cost, before you commit to detailed analysis or investment. And with a true understanding of long-term vessel performance, you can be more certain of staying ahead of the curve, if and when costs rise and regulations tighten.

Shipyards: The need to control quality and ensure buildability

Every shipyard must build vessels efficiently, as expected and specified by the ship owner. A core skill of C-Job is ensuring designs are engineered with buildability and maintainability in mind. Over many years, we’ve built a comprehensive understanding of how to adapt to different yard processes, meet building schedules, and deliver the right level of detail at every stage.

This enables us to closely meet your needs for documentation and building instructions that reduce construction costs. Our use of optimization and automation tools will help to minimize steel use and labour costs, avoid collisions, and reduce or eliminate rework.
